I wouldn't expect it to be conducive to Eddie Van Halen style tapping, but who knows... give it a try, experiment with it... look for a way to make it work in terms of a sound that is interesting or complimentary.... you never know.
I know a lot of guitarists get some good sound/effects by rubbing the edge of the pick along the strings, especially the wound strings, so why not?
Not a good idea.
