How old should you be for a cell phone?!
Question: im in 7th grade btw, and i really want a cell phone! I'm very resonponsible and get good grades. and lots of my friends have it, and i feel left out sometimes lol! And i think my mom was questioning/ was unsure about getting me one. So should i be able to get one? (if i only use it sometimes, and handle it responsibly?)

Most kids get cell phones around 5th and 6th grade. I'm in 7th grade and my brother is in 5th. He got his in October and I'm on my second phone. My first one, I got during the christmas of 6th grade. Basically it doesnt really matter about responsibility and grades, but what your parents want. But I really hope you get one !!

I say like 8th grade, if you ever went over your minutes then I would take it away for a long time and make you work it off.
i got my first cell phone as a middleschool graduation present. thats fair. but nowadays, 12-13 years old is old enough.
a cell phone does cost money. i didn't get one till my 16th birthday. but i would definately recommend getting one when you drive.

I'd say that your mother should absolutely get you a cell phone. That way your pimp and dealers can keep in touch with you and "git thay money"

You must understand, cell phones cost money. When you have a job and pay for it yourself then you can have one. KIds these days think they can have anything they want.
I'm in 7th grade, too, and I don't have a cell phone. I do feel a little awkward sometimes when I see a bunch of people who have one and I don't, but honestly I don't WANT one. It's just another thing that ends up causing problems if you lose it, another thing to waste time with, and besides, I have a working phone in my house. If you go places a lot, I think it's good to have one, and ya, you're OLD enough, but you've just got to know if you really need it, or if it's just the peer pressure setting in.

Well I hate the fact that young kids always have cell phones nowadays. I think it is a huge distraction at school and since I never had one when I was in school I feel that they are not necessary. That being said they are very handy to have in a pinch. And if I had kids in 7th grade I'd want to be able to contact them at any time if need be. If your responsible with it and help to pay the bill a little with some chores there is no reason why you should not get a phone. Plus I'm sure it sucks to be a kid today and not have something everyone else has.
I think yiu should tell your parents to byu you one and if you get bad grade or you when over the minutes stuff like that..

A cell phone should only be for emergencies and keeping in touch with your parents, at your age. It should not be had as a status symbol or because your friends have one. Even if you paid for it yourself, it really could better wait until high school.
