How much does it cost to repair a trombone slide that is slightly bent? around?!


Question: My brother dropped my trombone

my trombone slide is bent slightly
the inner one is bent out ward slightly
the other one looks ok i think
when i try to put those 2 together it fits but i cant slide it well.

how much does it cost around 1-10$? 20-30$?
any good stores?

It all depends!
If the inner slide is bent, that could get expensive!
If the innerslide is twisted a little, your band director can fix that.
If your outer slide has a dent--most band directors can fix that if they have the tools.
If you have to send it to a repair shop for an outer slide issue, you are looking at about $25 or the min. cost for repair (usually an hour or $25).

Talk to your trombone teacher first. I personally bend the inner slide myself, but I have been playing long enough to know how to do this.

Repairs will be costly, but how old is the horn? Some stores include warranties for purchases, especially if you were a young student when you purchased it.

Do you use oil or cream to grease the slide? I found as a student that when there is a dent the cream works better, because it stayed on the slide and you could add water when needed.
