i jus go with the old HEY! but these days its rare that people say bye! i swear
i say yo!
I usually just yell "What the f.. do you want"
i usually just say hello. but i have a friend that always says, hello good morning, hello good afternoon, or hello good evening. and she's british so its really funny to hear.

if one of my friends is calling me i answer, who is this?? what do you want???.they know that i am kiddin because i always answer in that way, but if i do not know the number i just say helloo..
It depends on my mood. Like if im sad or angry I will answer in a low, kinda tone and say: Hello?
Or If im really happy, I will say hello?! In a high pitched kinda voice in a happy tone =]
But yeah, its usually hello. LOL

if i know who it is, like a friend, or family member i'll say whatever comes to mind, maybe make up an accent, fancy it up a bit. of course, depending on my mood.
Yet, if it's a call to my house and not for me, i am unsure of who it is, or it's my work probably calling me in, i'll just be like. hello?

"Parakalo" as in"please (go ahead)". But then again, I'm Greek, living in Greece - I can't answer the phone in English.
