B. B. King/ Buddy Guy (B. B. learned how to play guitar by "plucking" a single catgut string stretched across a board attached to his front porch!!!! Between Buddy Guy & BB, they OPENED the door for ALL the "guitar gods" we know today! In my opinion, they should get MORE respect than they recieve! )

Jimmy Hendrix (The King of 60's rock guitar! He managed to incorporate many different styles and make "new sounds" out of his guitar! He was once caught at a Buddy Guy concert recording and taking notes! lol)

Eddie Van Halen-(The king of hard/metal guitar! He started the whole "finger-fret" playing with the classic, "Eruption"!)

Clapton- He copied Muddy, Buddy & BB. Although I appreciate his playing, in many ways he is the "Elvis" or "Pat Boone" of G-tar! He got famous by reproducing the styles and feel of older black artists. At least, in his later years, he has gone back to playing "his roots", (which are wholly blues based!)

The 5th one is tough! Everyone says Page! Although J. Page was a great guitar player, he ABSOLUTELY STOLE all his licks from black blues guys! He has even admitted it in interviews!

Plus, there are some AMAZING classical & latin players that run RINGS around ANY of the so-called "guitar gods" we know & love in America.

Stanley Jordon was always amazing to me. His cover of Stairway to Heaven, (played by himself with No accomp), is fantastic. I always thought Mark Knopler was excellent. Joe Satriani is excellent. SRV brought a tone and style of guitar "back" we had't heard since Jimmy H! Etc Etc Etc.

I'll just leave the 5th one open.......too many great players! (lol)

PS: You want to see something cool? Rent the movie "Lightening in a Bottle". A fantastic blues concert! BB King, Buddy Guy, John Fogerty, Etc. Top-notch!

Hendrix, Page, Vaughn, Clapton, too many others.

Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Jimmy Hendrix, Eddie Van Halen, Eric Johnson, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Ted Nugent, What do you think ?

Jimmy Page
Jimi Hendrix
Eddie Van Halen
Eric Clapton
Richie Blackmore
