Will painting my guitar pickup poles affect the sound?!


Question: will it affect the sound if i want to paint the poles(screws) of the seymour duncan invader's poles, or screws. will it make it sound bad or what?

Interesting question! I am not a guitar tech, but from purely a physics viewpoint I would say that there would definitely be a limited effect. My feeling is that you would slightly diminish the magnetic pull on the strings, depending upon how thick you made the paint layer. If there were metal particles in the paint, the effect should be less noticeable. To get back the original tone, you would most likely have to raise the screws closer to the strings. Try this: tape a piece of thin plastic over the pickups, and see if there is a difference in volume or tone. This may give you an idea of what to expect. Hope some of this helps.
