Hmm, i think they are because we can connect them to the things in our own lives. I guess that's why Jerry Seinfeld is a comedian.
But there's more to it than that, I'm just not clever enough :)

I think things are funny because they appeal to people in a way that seems silly. Usually "funny" things are offensive, stupid, random, etc, which makes them appealing in a silly way to people.

Things r funny because we make them that way...just imagine a world without laughter it would turn us all into robots and drown us in our own negative experiences. Just by turning something bad into something funny(not insulting) u turn a frown upside down and make a difference in someone's life just by being that person who showed them what funny is.
Because funny things are.
