define better? personally I prefer Page but I like that style of music more. Having said that Eddie is awesome and I guess technically better - all a matter of personal taste I reckon.
its very close - jimmy page is the better songwriter -
technically - eddie van halen is far superior, but its worth noting that his 'invention' of 2 finger tapping on the guitar was not invented by him..
heh as a brit - i'd say page just wins it - but like all other guitar competitions, id say it was down to individual taste..
now if you were talking about clapton v hendrix however ;).
Jimmie Page is the Darth Vader of Guitar. Supposedly the best, but got showed up by some other lucky guy. I would def. go with Page!

~EDIT: TO RUPPERT, Clapton isn't worthy to polish Hendrix' guitar case. IMHO. I saw Stevie Ray Vaughan and Clapton on stage together, and frankly, Clapton was an annoying distraction to the magic of Stevie Ray. Again, IMHO.
