Ticket buying tips? I need help!?!

Question: I am going to try to buy tickets online for a show that I know will sell out quickly. Does anyone have any tips to maximize my chances of getting tickets?

P.S. I've never been to a concert before, and this show is to my favorite band. Any tips will be greatly appreciated. Also, the sale is a pre-sale event. I know the pre-sale amount of tickets will go fast.

P.S. I've never been to a concert before, and this show is to my favorite band. Any tips will be greatly appreciated. Also, the sale is a pre-sale event. I know the pre-sale amount of tickets will go fast.

If you can get in on the pre-sale, by all means do it. Sometimes it's as easy as signing up for the ticket place's email list. Otherwise, know that the tickets will not go on sale to the general public online until exactly the time (i.e. 10:00am Central time or whatever it's supposed to be). So while the website may be flooded with hits at this time, it is not going to let you into buy tickets until the clock changes on the server's clock. Try getting the exact time from time & temp or something so you know if your computer is a little fast or slow.
Also, try to see if you can get a couple friends/family members to also try to get on and buy tickets. Know that most tickets are non-refundable/non-exchangeable, so keep in contact with these people so you don't end up with 4 sets of tickets.
If you're willing to pay whatever for the tickets, just hit "best available" if that's an option for however many tickets you're wanting and whatever shows up, go for it. That will probably be your best bet.
Once you have tickets in your cart, those tickets are YOURS until you release them, purchase them, or your timer runs out. Most places will put a timer on your cart for something like 7-15 minutes, so if you decide to purchase those tickets you MUST do it in that time frame or you WILL lose them.
If you can also call and buy tickets, do it. Even if you don't like calling, and you'll probably be on hold forever, it will increase your chance of getting them if you're doing both at once. That way you might get through on the phone before online or vice versa.
Some places, if you call, you may end up with better tickets, if you'll be speaking with an actual operator. And if that's the case, sometimes they'll be able to talk with you for a minute or two before the tickets go onsale (if you're really nice) so you can get them right away.
But if you're doing it online just keep trying. The server will likely go very slow, but just keep trying. Get on the website well before the time but know that depending on the webpage you might have to refresh it once the tickets go onsale. If you're there right away though you'll probably get tickets. But I do recommend calling as well. It really does increase your chances. A lot of ticket companies do choose from the same pool of tickets for online, over the phone, outlets, box offices etc, but sometimes they do have special seats reserved for different outlets (i.e. this row can only be sold in the box office, this row can only be sold over the phone, etc). It will increase your chances if you get more people in on it AND if you call and go online.

Also, if you are going to do it online, register with the site in advance. At least make an account with your email address and a password, maybe even put in your billing info (make sure it's your BILLING info, not mailing address, unless they're the same). Have your credit card out and ready to save time. You'll need to know the name on the card, the type of card (i.e. Visa, Discover, etc), the number, the expiration, and the security code (last 3 numbers on the back of the card for V, D, M and 4 digits on the front of AE). All this info (including the billing address) must be correct for the transaction to go through. If it doesn't go through you might lose the tickets you have.

ok go to www.ticketmaster.com or .co.uk or whereva u liv and search the band. then like it asks you if you want a notification when tickets are released and you can book online with a creditcard

I got mine at ticketmaster.com, Van Halen tour was resheduled not cancelled. Also check the venue's website. Like if its at MSG go on MSG.com.
