Question: i'm thinking about getting a meinl medium 20 inch crash (traditional finish). i have cracked some other cymbals in my days and i was wondering if the bigger the cymal, the more it's likely to break?

There are a lot of factors to cracking a cymbal. The way you play (how hard you hit). If you are a hard hitter I would recommend a slightly thicker weight. i.e. If you are playing heavy rock you probably would want to stay away from thin or light weight cymbals.
Age also is a factor, like anything that you hit with a stick (heads etc) eventually it may develop a crack.

Your idea of a "Med" crash is a good one.
