Battle of the bands! ADVICE?!
Question: There's a battle of the bands at my school, and my group signed up for an audition. Now, I'm just a little concerned, because we play jazz music, with a lot of solos and what not. They didn't say it had to be a rock band, but people may not like jazz, and we may not make it into the contest. The majority of bands I know going are metal or screamo, or something like that. We do play some funk, but that's probably the only thing the audience will even remotely like. I still think that we'd be one of the top groups since we're original and we have very good soloists. What do you think?

There is a difference between talent and popularity....I hope you do well, but in real life...people would rather see a crappy band that plays music they like over a talented band that plays music they never heard...I have been in many bands and this is just nature of the beast
