Did the Monkees get the short end of the stick on the whole deal?!
Question: Ya, they got pretty screwed over by their producers and music supervisor. They weren't really aloud any creative controle until later in the shows and were always being ridiculed for not playing their own music (which yes, they did end up doing thank you very much lol). After the Monkees show ended Bert and Bob (producers) wanted to move on. The Monkees tried to do a few things but they eventually went their separate ways. They've gotten together a few times since though, which is nice.

Interesting question! I remember a little from watching reruns when I was young, but not enough to hold an intelligent discussion. I do remember some discussion among us kids as to whether the Beatles or the Monkees were a better group, which seems a bit ridiculous now!
