Why is popular music generally vulgar, vile, foul, degrading and generally negat!
Question: Why is popular music generally vulgar, vile, foul, degrading and generally negative!?
I know that there are exceptions, but generally speaking, today's popular music, including much of rock and roll, hip-hop, and rap, have negative messages!. Why is this so popular!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

I couldn't agree with you more and in my opinion it is attributed to many reasons the main one of which is too much liberal freedom in our fast paced society and competitive media growth!.
To be more specific there is an over abundance of choice and allowance made towards the demographic of younger people who are the principle market of this material!.
You know the saying (quite old now) 'Sex, drugs and rock and roll!' As we go on it can always have additions like !.!.!.!.
'Fast cars, sex, drugs and rock and roll!'
(there is another I could add into this saying but it may upset people and so I will refrain from it!)
However that being said you have selected the last item on this little list influencing our young people!.
To get on board the money and fame train there are no limits to what this large group can or will do albeit individually or as bands within a separate ideological and racial system of groups!.
That is their train of thought!. If they wish to impact society and many of them do in a negative way to get noticed then rest assured they will!.
I guess everybody wants their fifteen minutes of fame as Andy Warhol intimated once and they are going to take it even if it upsets or hurts somebody!. However it doesn't last and the new ones arrive to supplant them!. 'The King is dead,!.!.!.Long live the King!'
We have come a long way since the fifties and sixties of the last century relating to the origins of literal and musical freedom promulgated by the then young people!.
Here is a paradox for you though and it bears merit within the music industry!. The Beatles (oh yes them again) made the highest points in fame and success with their radical music of the time in which 99% of their lyrics were based on !.!.!.!.!.!.!.

Family upbringing may also engender angst in young people wanting to discover an alternative direction to their tuned society!.
If the family is not harmonious then young children of an early age suffer from inferior feelings and hoplessness and can't wait to break out into this fast paced arena!. They do it but usually with a negative impact on those around them!.
However as recognised by todays 'unlimited standards' of business there is bucks to be made in that!
No matter what,!.!.!. the question you have asked does relate to social problems within the majority of the young people promoting these messages and why I have rambled on here based on psychological reasoning which has to be entertained in the answer!.

For many reasons:Today's society, unfortunately is not about being a family, respecting each other and your community, but on how much of a pervert you are, sex crazed, using others as animate objects or how many times you have been done!.!.!. Listen to most "popular music" now days, they are not about love it is about, I am a singer and I sing all mediums of music, and I like to channel surf to try to see if I can out sing other singers, and have been shocked at some of the topics such as : is your man here (because I'd like to do you and I'm too much of a coward to try to talk to you while he's here, but can we sneak and do it!?(rap/hip hop), I don't have no $ to take you out on a date, have no car, but can I hit it!? (rap/hiphop) Or "what your name is!?( rap) As a lover of languages this song irks me, he can not even ask you out using correct English and he was born in America!?!!! Or I'm going to do you and there better not be a camera up in here!.!.!. sung by a woman!.! (R&B), or Baby turn your head and spit me out!.!.!. (rock) If these are considered "romantic songs" and people are actually buying them to be "romantic" I fear the "Children of the Corn" born out of these "couplings"!. This is not to mention the "underground" rap that is NOT allowed to be played on the radio!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
-shrugs- I can't speak for everyone, but I'm attracted to the type of music that I can relate the most to, and if that music happens to have a negative message, then I'm okay with that!. I'm no saint, and I know an abundance of people will probably think that I'm just another ignorant youth who's allowing negative music to pollute my 'thoughts and actions', so I try not to think about it!.
And I'm going to be honest with you, I don't normally think about the message my music conveys, because I don't care!. As long as it sounds decent, I'm game!. That's not to say that it's right or wrong, it's just how I, personally, am!.

Teens and young people growing up in a non-moral society as our country has turned into!. Thanks to ACLU and many other groups, yes families, love, kindness and compassion have taken a huge backseat to the crap that is on the radio and in our music today!. Very sad as it just breeds more and our younger generation is growing up with it and not knowing any better!. No it's NOT "cool", it's you that THINKS it's cool!. Sadly one day you will learn this when it's too late!.

I been a musician for over 35 years!. I had classical training as a pianist, my uncle is a classical pianist!. as a keyboardist my R&B group was number one in the state of arizona!. A faimily member has won the grammy as a writer!.
the musician is the pipers but the productors are the money backers!. Their are the one who dicide what is on the cd's!. I say over 95% of the negative songs in question won't even been listen to within five years!. give me a bullsh*t songs five years ago!. that is good news and proof and hope!.
So the musicians must have more respect for thier art, the producters must invest on good quality hits, which will be around for ever!. as for the cusumers, they cant buy if it is not around!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Its a churched nation and sex and violence sell!. They are counterculture and so trendy!. Because youth is responsible for the largest majority of music intake!. And eveyone knows anything "bad" "Stupid" or "taboo" Kids and Teens FLOCK TO IT! Thats why I listen to Eminem, Hollywood Undead, Marilyn Manson, and all kinds of other stuff!. as long as there are negatives in music the singers can keep you on their level of emotions and then it causes you to believe what they sing!.!.!.they win!.you lose !
