For the fretboard, I would use ebony, because it is very hard and resists wear!. For the back and sides, it depends on the type of sound You want!. Rosewood gives You a crisp sound with lots of volume!. Mahogany gives a more mellow sound, but a little less volume!.The top should all ways be spruce, because it vibrates better than most!. A pretty good substitute would be cedar!. This should all be solid wood, not laminated!. I am assuming You are building an acoustic guitar!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

My preference at this point would be rosewood fretboard (standard) with a mahogany neck and korina body!. If I could afford it, that is!. I prefer warm, darker tones with attenuated highs and lows that are reduced but still punchy!.!.!. I think this combination of woods would work out pretty well!.
