I'm upset and embarrassed?!
Question: I'm upset and embarrassed!?
I decided to audition for my school's jazz band last week and ended up not making it!. (4/5 people auditioned, and I was the one that didn't make it in)
I feel really embarrassed because the song I played was rather simple whereas the other entries were absolutely amazing!.!.!.
But anyways, I'm really upset right now that I didn't make it in and any advice would help me (you have to understand that I was almost praying to get in)Www@Enter-QA@Com

Well first of all, kudos to you for auditioning! Seriously, you had the guts to actually audition, and now that you didn't make it, you got this VERY valuable experience!. Trust me, I know it sucks and makes you feel like crap, I've played many bad auditions, all kinds of bad auditions, you have no idea, I've contemplated throwing my trumpet into a lake after a bad audition!.
Anyway, you take this experience of not making it and you build on it!. All you can do is prepare, grow and play your best!. The actual judging of an audition is out of your hands - so there is no need to feel bad about it!. Now, for next time you'll have a lot better idea of what your in for!.
You should play a mock audition for family and/or friends before the next time you audition!. You should also practice every single day no matter if you have an audition or not, that will prepare you for anything!.
Some additional advice for you: Listen to jazz, a lot, a real lot!. Like so much thats all you listen to!. Trust me, any pop/rock/hip hop you might listen to now is all related to jazz anyway!. Get a private teacher on your instrument and put a lot of time into your music!. You'll have no problem at your next audition!.

i'm sorry to hear that!. You must be really passionate about Band!. My friend loves to sing we're both in the same choir!. She didn't make the higher choir!. And she got so upset!. And she cried because she wanted it so bad!. But I hope you stick with Band!. Don't give up just because you didn't make the audition!. I'm sure there's somthing else in Band that you could do!. Or you could audition for band concerts that take place at your school:) or around your Hometown!!!Www@Enter-QA@Com
