Where do the get all the songs from!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
They don't!. They keep a play list of the top 400-500 songs that people request!.

In the old days they actually had LP's or singles to spin on a turntable!.

These days radio stations can utilize CD,s or more commonly, MP3's!.

I was in the studio the other day here in Dallas with a DJ friend of mine!. He downloaded a popular song of old from one of the peer to peer services and played it for me!.

Generally, songs requested aren't played for upwards of an hour after they are requested, if they are played at all!.

What you hear is a taped request! Then the song follows!. Slick, huh!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Today's radio stations are playing digital music on computers!. The typical radio station has a software program and files (songs) for their particular format (rock, country, etc!.) The songs are all in wav format for the best sound quality!. The files (songs, commercials, etc!.) are merged into another computer and program (Prophet, Scott Systems, Maestro, and others) where they are combined in a particular order, creating the sound you hear on your radio!. the DJ, which is rare these days, just inputs himself by pausing the program while he talks - or just opens his/her mic and talks over an intro, music bed or other!. The typical music library for a radio station is between 1,000 and 2,500 titles!. Classic stations (rock, country) have nearly 5,000 titles!.!.!.but only play the 500 or so that are high raters with station focus groups!. Current music (rock, urban, etc!.) stations rotate even fewer, with the top ten tunes repeating every three hours due to popularity and audience rotation!. Because of the ease of not using a DJ, or voice tracking (pre-recording DJ breaks) there is no one in the studio, except on the morning show and the afternoon show, so no one answers the phone!. If they do, they record the call (thanks to Janet Jackson and the heavy fines being handed out by the FCC), call up the song (which takes about ten seconds) and then play the request and the song on the air - if they want!. Many today - just kids with no formal training - simply don't care what the audience wants!. They are just happy to be paid to play music instead of flip burgers until they get out of college!. I base my answer on 40 years experience as a rock and country disc jockey!. I hope this answers your question!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

they are probably all on a computer in mp3 format, so when you request it they can bring it up real quick like!. also sometimes people make requests during commercial break so that gives them time to find it!. I don't believe they have everysong, because sometimes people will request something and they'll play a different song by the requested artist!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Most of the fancy stations can't just play whatever they want so even if they do have a HUGE collection which is likely, they stick to a handful of songs that they are payed to play/that they pay to play!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

They play the same songs over and over, and take advertisers money for big profits!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Pay to play!!!!! im in the buss! lolWww@Enter-QA@Com
