I want to become a DJ but where do I start?!

I'd like to DJ as a hobby and maybe DJ at parties for extra cash!. I have no idea what equipment I need to start DJing!. I'm not sure whether to use turntables or Cd but I really want to scratch!. What equipment do I need and can you recommend anything for beginners!? So far all I have are a laptop and some old speakers!. Please explain!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
