'Gigs' are generally small-scale, say, in clubs, local halls, etc!. Many 'up and coming' performers use this term, as they try to 'get noticed'!. Not a bad training ground, really!. However, most acts are doomed to follow this path forever! Gigs are also gratefully accepted bookings by artists who were once famous but who now have to 'take what they can get'!
A 'concert' is an overblown term for a large venue such as a stadium or park where a well-known act or acts perform to thousands of people!. These concerts usually have incredible amounts of machinery, audio equipment, lights, etc!., to make the average, but lucky, performers look and sound good!
It's the same as for the term 'band'!. Today a band is any group of singers, whether or not they have instruments!. When I 'were a lad', a band meant at least ten different instrumental players!. A 'group' was four to five players and a concert needed a whole orchestra!
'Gig', meaning, I feel, short for a 'giggle' or a good time is a fairly recent use of the word!. It used to be a small carriage, drawn by one horse! Wouldn't it be great to see a 'band' on a cart, paraded through a city centre!? Wait, a minute, they do that for footballers on double-decker buses!. Same thing, really!. Nothing new under the sun!

well a concert is a big stage event such a glastonbury (obvously it doesn't have to be this big!.) and a gig is quite simply a smaller scale event such as a pub!.
