You are right that the term "jumping the shark" is used as you described, but if you look at it from the standpoint that it had been the number one show and ratings were falling, Fonzie "jumping the shark" did not stop the decline!. That it took 4 years (if you say that's the case I'll take your word for it) is irrelevant!. also, whether the remaining episodes were good is a matter of opinion!.
The important thing here is, it was a total departure for the series!. It was strange and seemed out of place and desperate because it was such a departure from what they had done previously!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
