Question: I'm about to make a scary decision and need advice!?
I'm 21 and recently dropped out of college and have decided to pursue my dreams of acting instead of attending business school!. I just can't see myself sitting in front of a desk for the rest of my life!. I love acting and I'm getting ready to audition for plays and begin building my resume!. I eventually want to move to Los Angeles and become a proffesional actor!. I realize that it's very expensive to live there and that I'm not going to "make it big" the first year or two that I'm there and that it's going to take ALOT of hard work and dedication to get to where I want to be!. It's just a VERY scary decision to make and I guess I'm just looking for someone to tell me not to give up and that it's going to be okay and that I'm not making a big mistake!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I went to law school at the age of 39!. There was a student in my first year class who was 50!. You can always go back to business school later if you change your mind again!. Living in L!.A!. is expensive, but you'll find a way to make it work!. You'll meet people who will add a lot to your life you would not meet if you didn't go!. You'll have experiences that will enrich you and expand your consciousness!. You might even make it as an actor! And if you don't you might stumble on something you love even more!. The only mistake you can make is to not follow your intuition!. Most of my regrets in life stem from not following my intuition!.
I read alot of the answers at the beginning of the 'thread!.' All that stuff about 'have a back up plan,' or 'be realistic and stay in school!.' These people are too young to know that most 'conventional wisdom' is not even true!. It just gets thought of as truth because people repeat it alot!. Everyone has their own path in life!. No one can tell you not to do something!. You know that John Mayer song about when he was in high school everyone told him to prepare for the real world and he just found out there is no such thing as the real world!. I don't think it's a good idea to quit everything to pursue a dream!.
What you should do is either go back to college and start doing some acting course in the meantime, or start working and do a course in the meantime!.
That way if the acting doesn't work out you have something to fall back on!.

I am going to be very honest with you!. The odds of a successful career in acting are very low!. You do not need to go to school for business but acting is also a rough road!. I know how you feel, I'm getting out of highschool soon and a lot of people are like your crazy to do this, and your nuts to do that!.
If you're anything like me you wont settle for anything less!. So go for it!.

i say go for it what have you go to loose but in case it fails i would always have a backup plan something your good at and enjoy doing!

My best friend got a full ride scholarship to pepperdine university and her parents had big dreams that she would do something great and makes lots of money!! When This school year is over (She's Studying abroad in argentina at this time) she's planning on dropping out and going to culinary school!. her parents are so disappointed but its what she wants! she loves cooking and thats what she's going to do!

well if thats what you have set on doing Good Luck and I hope you make it but make sure you have a back up plan because sometimes what you hope for doesnt always happen and you want to make sure you have something to fall back on!. If you are passionate about acting, go for it and enjoying what you do is very important because it is not a good feeling to wake up every morning and not like what you do!. it was most scary for her because shes never left home, i tell her everyday its something you just have to do!. even if you end up hating it, you have to atleast be content with the fact it was an experience!.
yes living in LA is very expensive, and we're all broke right now!. i know its hard to pursue this, especially knowing you dropped out of school and left anything to fall back on behind!.
