How do i know what the quality of the root note is on bass guitar?!


Question: How do i know what the quality of the root note is on bass guitar!?
i can play bass but i get confused when i see a chord like Ab7 because i know the root is A but i don't know what b7 means on the guitar (i know its flat 7) i need to know what a quality is and how to add it to anything i playWww@Enter-QA@Com

Your root note is actually an "Ab"!. What the "7" stands for is a new interval that has been added to the chord!. Your chord now consists of a root, a 3rd, a 5th and now a 7th--meaning you have your root note (Ab) and then the second note down on the chord creates a 3rd interval from the root, the third note down creates a 5th interval from the root and the fourth note down now creates a 7th interval from the root!.
