Trying to learn how to play the guitar?!
Question: Trying to learn how to play the guitar!?
Hi!.!. okay so i'm 16 (girl) and i would really love to learn how to play the guitar!.!. i love writing lyrics already, but it would be amazing to learn to play the guitar and write my own songs!.!.
So i was wondering what the best way to start learning how to play the guitar without going to lessons or getting a teacher!. My dad plays, but he taught himself and he wants me to try to do that too!.
I have two Self Teaching books but they're not very helpful because i can't read music!.!.
So any tips and advice, websites, and other helpful things would be greatfully appreciated! Thank you so much for your time!

It's cool you're a girl!. Whats' the problem!? My neice just got a guitar!.
She is 12!. She can play "Smoke on the Water" by "Deep Purple"!!.
You do not need to read music!. Your ear is your best teacher!. You can find great lessons on YouTube!. I was trained the old way back when we first had electric light!. Ha ha!. I learned more by listening to my favorite records and trying to sound close!. It is not that hard!. Your favorite artists did the exact same thing!. The Beatles had no music training!. They could not tell a "E minor 7 from a G major"!.
I will give you a cool idea!. The normal guitar is tuned EADGB!. There is nothing to say you can tune it diffenrent!. You can have fun!. Play on and enjoy!. For a real treat, checkout "Eric Mongrain" on YouTube for different way a guitar is used!.
