The way it is explained in the book is that when you are turned into a vampire you take with you your strongest trait and it is made stronger than when you were a human!. so with Edward he was a little psychic and it bloomed into full blown mind reading!. Jasper was a calming influence and now he can control others moods ect,Www@Enter-QA@Com
