I first heard of twilight when I saw a trailer for the movie!. I was not the least bit impressed by the trailer!.
A few weeks later, I get a call from my mother, who has, for reasons unknown, read book 3, and only book 3!. She told me it was a decent read, so I decided to try the first book!.
I finished it last night!.
I thought it was written quite well, well enough for me to finish the very uneventful book!. I was a big fan of Anne Rice's vampire books, and thought Twilight would be similar!. It seemed more a romance story that happened to have vampires in it!.
Now I have read "romance novels" before, and I don' think highly of them, but twilight was a big step up from that!. Writing-wise!. I was not altogether interested with the day to day school life, and considering the character's light thought of it as well, I was really hoping it would veer away from school!. It didn't happen often enough for me!. I'll credit the author with forcing us into the mindset of her character, but it was not an aspect that I enjoyed!.
Pacing aside, it was a decent read!. The story was interesting; I just think it could have been more compact!.
I liked the ending, as I don't think I can handle the pacing for 3 more books, and it felt like a good way to end a story I won't be continuing!. I may try other books by the author, though I think I'll have to ask about the pacing of those beforehand!.
I will likely see the movie, if only because I did read the book, and because I go to the cinema twice a week, and there are only so many movies playing!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
