Are you sure this is a question for astrology rather than psychology? Because the whole question screams a psychological reason to me.
Why would a father have to live on if there are TWO men now grown up to take his place? The survival of his gene pool is set, he has nothing to worry about so his mind tells him it's okay to die now if he wants to.
I wish my grandad would have known that both his first boys grew up to become clinically insane - and his only daughter to become mildly depressed... he wouldn't have died at 50, then.
