How to become a fortune teller?
I want to read tarot cards and palmistry for a business. How would one go about this without looking like a goof. I would like to do parties and private clients. Also, how much to charge per reading. I have good intuition and some psychic abilities.

The best way to start giving readings is with your friends and family. Whenever you have a gathering, pull out the cards and people will be very interested. Before you do this, however, have business cards made up with your email and/or phone number on it so that people can get ahold of you for a reading. Word of mouth is an AMAZING way to get referrals! Everytime I go to a party, I always bring my cards with me and someone will bring up the topic of readings because they know me... a crowd gathers and lots of new clients materialize. Usually, with friends, I just ask for a donation... I don't have a set fee because their word of mouth advertising is better than the few extra dollars you can make that night.
The next thing I would do is join http://www.keen.com . This website allows you to have a website and you log in when you want to give readings. There is a lot of competition there, but if your website is good, you'll get clients. YOU choose how much you want to charge per minute... they get a portion of it. I have had MANY repeat clients there, but you'll also get a slew of people who want "free minutes" and they are basically "psychic junkies." They ask all of these psychics for free minutes (which I always give), but I really feel very bad for the people because they rely so much on other people for living their own lives. I try as much as possible to help my clients develop their own intuition so they don't need psychics all the time!
The other thing that is good about keen.com is that the client doesn't know your phone number... only the computer that connects you together knows your number. You only appear on the website when you log in or you set up a schedule to receive calls. This can prevent people calling you at 3 in the morning if you're trying to sleep. (BUT... I happen to be a night owl and I get MORE calls at 3 in the morning so that works to my advantage. There are less psychics available at those times of the day).
If you want to open a physical location... you'll need to check with your local city government to see if you need a business license or if they have any other special requirements. Some cities require background checks etc.
Back to fees... I have always used the donation system and it has worked well with me (when I'm not using keen.com). I have no set fee.... some people pay more than others. I LOVE doing it so much, I would never consider turning away someone just because they don't have money. BUT... I am being told by my Angels that they want me to start charging a set price sometime in the near future. You might want to check around in your city to see what other people charge if you're going to have a storefront. A lot of cities have "Psychic Fairs"... find out who organizes these and ask how you can participate. Usually those prices are set by the organizers.
