Actually the pronunciation is vasudaiva kutumbakam.
Vasudaa means the mother earth. Here if you split the words, it becomes " vasudha eva ( vasudha+eva=vasudaiva ) Kutumbakam ". Which mean the whole earth is our family.
All the living beings are our family members. So we should treat all leaving beings on earth as our family members. We should not kill any animals for our food and we should not hurt any living beings physically or we should not give them mental torture. Vedas says us that always we should be in a GLOBAL FAMILY. ( i.e. Planet of peace )
