Well... I never believed in ghosts... I liked creepy and morbid things, but didn't believe in them. So when my mom and sister started saying how they would hear things when no one was home, I thought they were nuts. Until I started hearing things myself.
I was in the basement painting a dresser when I heard the front door open and footsteps walking across the wooden floor. They stopped right where the door to the basement was. I was expecting someone to open the door but it never opened. Later that night I asked anyone if they'd stopped home during the day, they all were nowhere near the house.
It's always the same. When you are home alone and downstairs, more often then not you will hear the front door open (and we have a string of bells on it so you KNOW when the door opens), footsteps walking to the door and then stopping.
I've also heard voices call my name when no one was there... Heard a rolling computer chair move across the floor when no one was in the room, and seen a bottle move by itself.
Most recently, we've been seeing a ghost cat. It started when I was sitting in a chair next to the stairs. I saw a dark shape run down the stairs and run into the kitchen. I assumed it was my sister's cat. Well, a few mins later, my sister's cat appears from her hiding spot on the other side of the room. I would have seen if she would have walked in front of me.
Then my dad started saying he felt like a cat jumped into bed with him and stood on his chest, but when he went to pet it there was nothing there. I hadn't told him about what I'd seen on the stairs.
A few months later, my sister was in the basement with me (it's my little apartment). We had the baby monitor on in her bedroom and one down here with us. Suddenly we heard this loud, pitiful, sad meowing over the monitor. We KNEW it was not my sister's cat, because that cat does not meow for anything. The only sound she makes is this little "meep" when she's begging for food. We went up there, and there was nothing that could have made that meowing. It was winter, so all the windows were closed.
