Question:

Im on the cusp being may 21st can anyone tell me which star sign i am for sure, thanks?

Answers:

Right. There's no two ways about this... bear with me while I try to explain.

Your basic astrology divides the year into 12 star signs... that's how nearly everyone knows astrology. Now, those 'star signs' are - well, they are named that because they find their origin in constellations. Fair enough. But a good way to remember what they actually stand for, is to remember that the Sun is *also* a star! Those star signs, in more advanced (but still basic) astrology, are named "sun" signs.
Why? Because those are the signs the sun is in and passing through at those times that the magazines indicate... you know; "Aries - 21 march to 20 april" and so on.

Now, I know you're still with me here, so I'll make it a bit harder.
From our astronomy - or physics - lessons in school, we should all remember that even though a Gregorian calendar year counts 365 days, with one leap year every four years of 366 days, the actual time the Earth takes to orbit the Sun in one year, is 365.25 days.

So you can start to imagine that those dates the magazines always give out as being the "dates" for those "star signs", aren't correct every year. It also depends where on Earth you were born, because the sun might - for example - enter Aquarius at 7 in the morning in Europe, it will not enter that sign at 7 in the morning everywhere on the world. So let's say that the cusp day can be at least 24 hours off, depending on where you were born. Which is 1° and a bit astrology wise, and it can make all the difference.

So, with the leap year every 4 years, and the 1/4 of a day we're short the others, it is needless to say that every year, the "cusp" of a sign not only falls on a different hour in general - it also falls on completely different hours depending on whether you are born on the Fiji islands or Australia.

All that explained, I only have to tell you that all you need to figure out which sign you really are, is your exact time of birth and your place of birth, along with the year of birth and the rest of your birthday. You can have a chart made (easily online, I'll put the URL in the source section) which will tell you exactly which sign the sun was in at your time of birth - that is what your sign is.

Now, for the question on "why do some cusps act like both signs, then?" I'll not answer it until it's asked. I've answered the same question 2 times in 2 days, so I won't explain it on my own accord for the time being :)
