This is an interesting question. Although I can't speak from personal experience, two of my friends did, indeed, marry an individual who shared the Sun sign of a parent. One Sagittarian friend with a Leo mother married a Leo girl, while another friend married a man who shared the Sun sign of her father - Aries.

This is quite common. The reason is that the Sun in a woman's chart rules both the father and the husband. The Sun's sign, house placement and aspects indicate both the character of the father as well as the qualities that a woman seeks in a man.

In a man's chart, the Moon rules both the mother and the wife, so the sign, house placement and condition of the Moon indicates both the character of the mother as well as what a man seeks in a woman.

For this reason, consideration of the Sun and Moon are essential when determining astrological compatibilty. A man must satisfy a woman's Sun qualities and a woman must satisfy a man's Moon qualities for there to be a solid and enduring attraction.
