Yods in zodiac?!

Question:

Yods in zodiac?

My family has many yods, all different... anyone else study yods.

Answers:

My understanding is that a yod involves three planets: two are in 60 degree sextile, and they are both in 150 degree quincunx to a third planet. This "finger of God" aspect denotes tension on the third planet. You have two planets in sextile, good aspect denoting much potential (not necessarily realization), in an irritating aspect to a third which will be of an element (fire, earth, air, or water) that really conflicts with the other two.

A good example is in my chart: Jupiter in Gemini is sextile Pluto in Leo; they are both quincunx my North Node in Capricorn. I would interpret this to mean that my philanthropic gestures are easily irritated by the kinds of demands they are. I'll give you one example: moved by sympathy and the time of year, I agreed to return to work for a week at Christmas when my younger daughter was moving away into her own apartment. Needless to say, I couldn't fulfill that return to work, and I should have been more honest to say "No". But I craved approval (Capricorn), and agreed to something charitable (Jupiter) which I didn't do, thus making me feel extremely guilty (Pluto quincunx North Node).

A Yod isn't as significant as a square, but denotes tension that has to be resolved, and is not easy to do so.
