What is the "Golden Rule" anyway?!

Question:

What is the "Golden Rule" anyway?

Siegfried speaks of this often. What does this mean?

Answers:

Hi Catwoman, Who can argue with Rhio9’s answer? It’s as final as the Golden Rule which is endorsed by all religions and which has been described in other people’s answers!! To violate the Golden Rule, you might act in a certain way towards someone but are unwilling to be treated that way in the same circumstances. To apply the Golden Rule, we should consider the effect our actions might have on others. We need to imagine ourselves in the other person’s shoes, and being on the receiving end of the action. Applying the Golden Rule helps us improve in our moral thinking. It doesn’t replace other morals, it prescribes consistency. It tests our ethical principles. If we contravene the Golden Rule, we are violating the spirit of fairness and compassion that lies at the heart of morality. Polly
