Is there more than one Lilith in the chart?!

Question:

Is there more than one Lilith in the chart?

I've seen to varios astro programs different calculations for Lilith. Why? Are there more then one Lilith, and what is it meaning in the chart? Thanx.

Answers:

Today most astrologers use only the ten astrological planets (traditionally counting Pluto, the Sun and the Moon as planets) when giving a reading. However, some include other astrological objects (real or imagined) such as Lilith. Among these practitioners, some believe that the existence of Lilith is a metaphysical one rather than concrete reality. Others maintain that it is as real as Eros, a large, scientifically factual asteroid also part of some astrology systems.

Most astrologers using a point called "Lilith" are not using the hypothetical second moon of the Earth but rather, the asteroid Lilith or the oscillating lunar apogee (true or mean). The apogee is used more frequently in Europe than in the United States or the UK, and is not often listed in American or British ephemerides. It is usually listed in specialty ephemerides, as well as the Aureas Ephemeris published in France.

According to astrologers making use of Lilith in their calculations, understanding and finding Lilith's position in one's natal chart is very important: it helps a person become aware of their "dark side" and will bring self-defeating patterns and unhealthy behavior to light. This is sometimes called the "sensitive point." Lilith is assigned to represent the suppressed "shadow" side of a personality, such as those relating to the memory of negative experiences. Consequently, according to astrologists, acknowledgement of Lilith's influence leads to self-rejuvenation and release.

In a woman's horoscope, Lilith represents which part of life the woman plays a strong role in. Lilith is very evident and dominant in charts of powerful, creative women; those who are quite successful yet vulnerable and sensitive. Many have unconventional relationships.

In a man's chart, Lilith reveals the type of woman he fears and the type that can drive him over the edge, often to despair. The ideal position for Lilith in a male chart has an effect that attracts strong and beautiful women to him.

Lilith is also purported to play a large role in the relationships one encounters, especially intense ones. If Lilith is making a heavy transit in the love section of one's chart when one is beginning a relationship, the liaison will eventually become painful, intense and obsessive. Those under its effect may also feel some sort of unhappiness or even agony when Lilith hits other positions in their chart.

The Dark Moon has also been defined as the apogee of the Moon's orbit, or that point in the orbit farthest from the Earth. Both these points, the apogee and the second focal point, lie on the long axis of the orbital ellipse, the line of apsides. Seen from the Earth, they lie in the same direction, and therefore occupy the same place in the zodiac. The second focal point lies at a distance only about 36´000 km from the Earth, the apogee at about 400´000 km. Apart from this, both definitions can be regarded as being equivalent. Because the orbit of the Moon continually shifts forward in space, the Dark Moon moves along the zodiac at about 40° per year. A complete revolution takes 8 years and 10 months.
