How much do YOU depend on your horoscope?

How much do you pay attention to your horoscope, if at all? And if you do, why do you? If you dont, why dont you?

Astrology simply can not do what it claims to do. It has been tested and fails. It is divination. (See 1st link for a listing.)

Divination is the attempt to foretell the future or discover occult knowledge by interpreting omens or by using paranormal or supernatural powers. The reality is no one has ever shown, under proper observing conditions, evidence of any paranormal, supernatural, or occult power or event.

There are thousands of "professionals" (even more since the web started) in store fronts, street corners, on TV, and here that state that psychic ability is true and everywhere. And you can make money from it.

Personally I'd rather "know" when ever possible rather than blindly "believe". Things that are "too good to be true" should be examined carefully. If one does not see there own flaws, others certainly will. Evidence that can be tested would help to convince, but just taking someone's word will not.
Someone that makes such a claim would be:

1. A Liar. People do lie. Assuming that everyone in the paranormal community is trustworthy is a pipe dream. They will for various reasons but for attention and/or money would be a reason
2. Mistaken or delusional. One uses selective thinking. This is the process whereby one selects out favorable evidence for remembrance and focus, while ignoring unfavorable evidence for a belief. This kind of thinking is the basis for most beliefs in the psychic powers of so-called mind readers and mediums. It is also the basis for many, if not most, occult and pseudo-scientific beliefs.
3. Insane. This is doubtful here.
4. Telling the truth. Someone that does not fear any type of independent controlled testing because they can truthfully do what they claim. Without the use ANY type of excuses. Go to bat for you team, win the James Randi Educational Foundation million prize. (link #2) Erase all doubts.
After all those that make the claim MUST provide the evidence or that claim is not valid.

Humans are pattern seeking creatures and like it or not make mistakes. All our senses can be fooled. We are gullible. That is why we need testing to eliminate what is false and the lies. First show that it works THEN make theories on how it works.

There is a large market for the paranormal. Lots of money not to mention time is invested. It is a big business. All based on the "belief" of being able "see the future" and possibly profit from it.

If someone could really prove such ability, it would be equal to man landing on the moon. This person would be one of the most famous in all history. Also the world would be quite different then it is now.

The one thing astrology does do best is stereotype and pigeonhole people. When you prejudge a person based upon an accident of birth over which the person has no control, and which has no scientific validity is simple bigotry. Change a sign to a ethnic race and it becomes obvious.
