Is there more to Chinese astrology than the element and animal?!

Question: I've heard that each individual has more than one Chinese astrology sign. Is this true?

I know there is an Element associated with each signs particular year of birth (ie - I'm a Metal Horse), but is there more to it than that? It seems to vague since it covers a whole year and impersonal. Is it more about a particular age group than it is the individual? Or is there more that makes up one's Chinese astrological makeup... like a Chinese natal chart or somthing of the sort?

There is one method called the Four Pillars of Destiny or Ba Zhi (Eight Characters in Chinese). This method employs four columns (called pillars) divded into two rows, hence, giving you eight characters, two characters per pillar.

In this method of Chinese astrology, your year, month, day, and hour of birth is taken into consideration. Each of this information forms a single pillar. You have a year pillar, month pillar, day pillar, and hour pillar. In each pillar the top row contains the heavenly stems and the bottom rows contain the earthly branches.

The earthly branches are the tweleve zodiac signs you are familar with. This mean, in each four pillars chart you can have up to four different animal signs. While the heavenly stems are made up of the five elements (wood, fire, earth, metal, and water). So from your year pillar, Metal is your heavenly stem and Horse is your earthly branch.

To give yourself a better and more accurate picture of your astrology, you would need your month, day, and hour of birth. Then a Four Pillars consulatant can draw up your Natal Chart. From your Natal Chart they can tell your relationship with people, when your luck will come in (they can give you a very accurate estimate of what age you will have luck and when you will have diffculties), whether you will have wealth, what elements you need to be more balanced, etc.

The Four Pillars of Destiny is a very good and helpful method to give you a better picture of your destiny. Here is a link that will give you more information of this method of Chinese astrology, http://www.astro-fengshui.com/astrology/... Good luck.

The time and date on the lunar calander when you were born matters too. And if you have a chinese name, the number of strokes in your name also plays a part. I am not too sure why are you a metal horse though, I have only heard of Gold, Wood, Water, Fire and Earth.

each person has 3 animals.
each animal has a base element.
one associated with the year.
one associated with the month.
one associated with the hour.
the year, in addition, has an overlying element.

and there's an interresting set of possible interractions between all of the animals. it's similar to rock-paper-scissors. the same is true of the elements.

but essentially, the year is the most important, followed by the hour, followed by the month.

P.S. metal horse:
"constantly seeking excitement"
"always on the go"
"seems to be everywhere at the same time"
"cannot exist on a diet of daily routine" "will become irresolute and irresponsible"
"thirsts constantly for new experiences and challenges"

finally, somebody know about the 八字, it is one kind of Chinese astrology. i don't know it.
i study Chinese astrology (紫微斗數)that is not as you say the 12 signs. the Chinese astrology is another thing. the 12 sign is related to the Chinese astrology.(i can say that is one part of the astrology) the 12 signs are the year of the sign (animals). the Chinese astrology use the stars that are not the real stars to make charts. there are 12 time periods in a day, so there are 12 charts, male's and female's are different, so there are 24 charts in a day, and everyday is different, and every year is different. so it is very important for us to make sure what the time is for you. we need data to tail your past (only the birthday and time are not enough) to make sure the chart is your, and then we predict the future. if you meet a good master, he can tell you what you want to know in what year (we usually do the year),you can know the decade or you whole life( it takes very long time to do it, and it will be very expensive ). i prefer the Chinese astrology because it can tell every things (you may not believe it), of course, if you have a very good master. it won't just tell you all the things general, or tell you something is not what you want to know.
