It appears that I am to be the only one to say that I do believe in astrology. It comes from having studied it. I confirm that the stuff you read in the papers is rubbish. Someone sits down and works out which sign is rising on the Eastern horizon at noon that day and creates a chart. From this they write the generalised comments you read in Horoscopes.

A personal natal chart constructed by an astrologer will help you to understand your personality. It is not really a predictive tool, although some astrologers specialise in prediction.

I am sure you will all continue to scoff and that doesn't concern me one bit.

If you cannot possibly see how it could work, consider this: the moon controls the tides, women's menstrual cycles and people's behaviours, e.g. lunatics.

As Sir Isaac Newton said to the philosopher Jeremy Bentham, "I sir have studied it, you have not".

Scoff away and thumbs down all you like, it won't affect me one iota.

Nope i dont read them because whenever i read them the exact opposite happens to me

No

I'm a Virgo, we think it's all nonsense.

the last time i read my horoscope was last month...no, wait a minute, 1 year, i ment

It`a a load of rubbish.....

I don't believe in them but they are fun.............I don't believe in Santa but at Christmas, I'm the first one downstairs to see what Santa left for me!!

You have made your mind up. I predict that tomorrow you will be able to spell horoscope.

yea its alot of baloney....doesn't matter whats written it will appeal to someone..out of millions of people you will strike 1 that its happened to..

firstly its "horoscope"

and second I think its hilarious that some people take it seriously

one time i read my horoscope and it was completely true. It said you were going to be in the local newspaper and i was! However, i know people can read too much into there horoscope!

yu must believe or it wont werk

no, because I took a pysch class in college, and we discussed horiscopes. Really what they contain are generalized statements that apply to the majority. Thus, they seem like they apply exclusively to you. Not real, though.

You should listen to "Horiscopes" by Weird Al. Very entertaining song.

i don't believe in all that foolishness. i never have.

scorpion,cancer...gimme a break!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

check it out: you area beautiful person at heart. All will be good and dandy for you today. be confident, stylish...

oh c'mon! What rubbish!

Not really, but sometimes when I read my horrorscope some similar things happen to me but never the EXACT to what my horrorscope says.

Ehm..sometimes yes..if what I felt is exactly the same with what it written there..but sometimes no..

no

You don't even know how to spell, How Can I pursue you??

Uh huh?

I would try, but since you can't even spell, I think it would just be a waste of time. I mean, it's not like you're going to understand it, right?

BALLONEY. How can Prince Andrew and i have a similar day or Sir Paul Mcartney and my sister who share the same birthsign,me Aquarius my sister Gemini same day as Ncartney even them with their wealth us from working class ,so how can the daily papers predict such rubbish. for one and all.

After all your studies, resignedtolife, have you come close to providing any evidence that will pass testing?

Instead of producing evidence that can be tested, people like to quote scientists where it suits them. But they get it wrong. Newton was refering to religion, he never wrote anything about astrology.

At his death, Newton’s library possessed no more than four books on the subject of astrology: a work by the German astrologer Johann Essler from Mainz (end 15th/begin 16th century), a treatise on palmistry and astrology by the English doctor/astrologer Richard Saunders (1613-1675), an almanac from the same using the pseudonym Cardanus Rider and finally a work debunking astrology by the philosopher-poet and Cambridge professor Henry More (1614-1687).

The studies into Newton’s unpublished papers mentioned above have revealed that during the greater part of his scientific career, his secret passions in fact lay in alchemy and matters of theology (such as the nature of the Holy Trinity, the dimensions of Solomon’s Temple, biblical prophecies and biblical chronology).

It will therefore not come as a surprise that the true source for our anecdote in fact derives from Newton’s latter interests. More than 50 years ago the American historian of science I. Bernard Cohen was able to trace it back to the highly regarded Newton biographies by the English physicist David Brewster (1781-1868) in which it is cited in full as:

‘... when Dr. Halley ventured to say anything disrespectful to religion, he invariably checked him, with the remark, “I have studied these things – you have not”.

No they are not true. These people use the barnum effect which generalize the whole population- but it makes you tend to believe it only applies to only you (psychologist Paul Meehl ).

Another things about it is that you tend to disregard about the false it say about you, but tend to pay attention to the true things about you- which tend to happen by chance(coincidence).

Some of us know that horoschopes aren't true, but we can't resist to read them because it's our nature as humans to be curious.

lol 'by vambosth' says we are Virgo's and we think its nonsense. that means you do believe in it, haha. personally i don't, i just look at it out of boredom. mainly because of its mythical and astronomical aspect. how humans came to invent gods and where does our ideas come from.

OMG i have lived by my horiscope my whole life and it has never done me wronge!!!!!

Daily horoscopes are rubbish. I won't argue with that.

However, don't let your experience with daily horoscopes influence any interest you might have in actually studying astrology. I promise you, it's completely different from that rubbish!
