Is our moon sign who we truly are?!
Question: deep within? because that's what i've heard, that it's a natural instinct, and our 'soul'. and i think it's true because it describes perfectly how i feel. and i feel so much better since i'm aware of my moon sign.
i know your sun sign plays a massive part (obviously) but would you say our moon sign is who we truly are deep within? (people who know a lot about astrology answers only, thanks)

We are the sum total of our planets, not just our sun or moon sign. Although many people do draw on their moon sign
(re-act from an emotional level) rather than use the mercury sign to express themselves. This usually comes with age, earlier for some, later for others.
The sun sign is our ego or personality.
The rising sign is our outward expression of self.
Our moon sign is how we react on an emotional level.
Our mercury sign governs communication and how we reason or think.
Our venus sign shows the things we appreciate in life, and our ability to love.
Our mars sign shows what we will fight for.
Our saturn sign shows our tenacity.
Then we must consider the houses each of these planets reside in, for they show the area of our lives most affected.
Are they in rulership, detriment, fall or exalted? This will determine their strength in the house and the sign they occupy.
And finally, we must consider the aspects these planets form to no only each other, but to the houses they rule. Is it 30, 60, 120 degrees? This would show an easy flow of energy. Is it 45, 90 or 150 degrees? This would show that there is tension between the two, and tension can be used for good or bad, depending upon the soul developement of the person.
To put everyone in a nutshell is not the way of astrology. Our planets and their sign, as well as placement by house, aspectation and pattern determines the 'bones' of what we have to work with in this sojourn.
They are simply the energies we draw on in our lives, and we choose how to use them, for good or for bad. Human free will.
For example: The energy of Mercury is communication. At it's best, it could be the foreign diplomat that negotiates peace talks between nations at war. At it's worst it could be the double spy who carries espionage secrets and instigates war. Same energy, different uses.
Energy runs the gambit from black to white and all shades of gray in between. This is why some of the descriptions of your 'sign' may or may not fit you.
So to answer your question, who are we deep within? We are the sum total of our planets and of our experiences here on earth, for these experiences shape us, and make us who we are.
I don't think any one sign is "who we truly are". They all make up who we are... it's the complicated combinations that make an individual. The moon sign is how we subconsciously react and "feel", but obviously our sun sign, planets, ascendant, etc... affect how we interact with people, how we see the world, etc... which in turn forms the reactions, impressions, etc... that we subconsciously *feel*. And vice versa... how we feel depends on how present ourselves and interact with others, which dictates what we get out of experiences, relationships, etc...
So... you can't really remove one from the other. It's all inter-related and one without the other would just be... empty. As sentient beings, we're all complex individuals, astrology or not.
Well, I read somewhere that the sun sign is how we express ourselves in the outer world and our moon sign is how we are when we are alone...and we usually don't care to much about showing this to others. However, I would have to disagree with that because I care very much about showing others my leo moon side...I WANT to show it....VERRY badly..in fact I'm proud of my leo moon side as IS only natural right? right? ahah. (I joke......I am proud of it, actually, but the joke is that the moon is in LEO and so it's no surprise that i am the way i see it)

its not who we truly are, but what is who we "truly are"?
the way we act? the way we feel? the way we think? our mannerisms? our instincts?
Our sun is our innercore, like in the solar system, its in the center.
Our moon is our emotions, it comes and goes, but its profound and important.
Our ascendant is our constitution, what were made up of, what we have to be in this world. our dreams and aspirations.
I guess what im tryin to say is that who you are, is the whole you. never take anything for granted.
I think our sun sign is how we truly are. I'm a Libra sun and that is how I normally act and how people who get to know me truly perceive me. (though my Capricorn ascendent throws unknowing people off on me). Most people would see me as outgoing, flirtatious, caring, indecisive, and always come to me for well-weighed advice. Very Libra. But those who know me even better see my private Virgo moon. I need to be organized when in panic and when hurt, I keep quiet and constantly plan out my attack. That's all Virgo. So more, people and who you are is generally your sun sign. But deeper down and what you're like privately is your moon sign.
No. You moon represents how you express your emotions. You Sun and rising signs are more indicative of your personality. If your moon happens to be in the same sign as your Sun or on your ascendant or you happen to have a bunch of strong planets in the same sign or near your moon, that could be what you're feeling.
Our moon signs are our emotions and a big part of who we are but certainly not the whole picture. One needs to to have their whole chart cast to get the picture of who they are astrologically
Basically, our Moon sign represents our emotions, how we feel. Our Sun is our basic personality and our ascendant is how others view us as well as colors our Sun's personality.
