Looking at where his Mercury sits (communication), and where yours sits will help you understand the differences in the thinking process.
For example: IF you had mercury in Virgo, and he in Sag, Virgo is a logical deductive type reasoning, whereas sag is more philosophical. You can't take what they say literally. You would need to understand a lot of what they say is by way of analogy. This is just an example, since I don't know about your charts.
