I repeat,' it is all stupid'. You are 'still a Scorpio' with lot of sting still left. Use it where necessary, good luck.

If you're a Scorpio in garden variety western astrology, then yes, you're still a Scorpio. :-)

As you may know, many to most western charts use the "tropical zodiac," which is *not* where the signs are located if you actually go out and look at night, due to the Precession of the Equinoxes.

Vedic astrologers use what's called the "sidereal" zodiac, which takes the Precession into account. Most, but not *all* people will find their Vedic/Jyotish signs one "off" from their western astrological signs.

Ophiuchus is one of the constellations that was visible in the ancient sky, but the *only* one not aligned with a zodiac sign. Some modern astrologers disagree with their ancient counterparts, and believe that O *should* be affiliated with a Zodiac sign.

For general info, I've given you a couple sources; the one from aquarianmysteries.com gives the qualities of Ophiuchus when accounted as a Zodiac sign. There's also a site which gives the respective tropical and sidereal dates for the zodiac signs ref'd in there.

Enjoy! ;-)

What the hay ??? I am not a scorpio anymore? I am a libra

it could be worse, we could be virgos.. that would scare me

I have a hard time with "The Serpent Holder" myself and I've been doing this quite a while. So I decided a few years ago that I just would not use it except for the characteristics, which I apply to the dates you have listed.

Yes, you still are a Scorpio, but you have some of these additional characteristics:

According to the boundaries for the constellations adopted by the International Astronomical Union in 1921, there are 13 signs of the zodiac instead of the usual 12; time from Ophiuchus the snake handler is usually included in time given to Scorpius. If you already know your astrological sign from reading an astrology column in a newspaper or from consultation with an astrologer, you may be surprised that few of these dates correspond to the dates listed in the newspaper's astrological column. Why? Generally, listed astrological signs and the dates given by most astrologers assume that you were born around 140 AD.

Bear in mind Pluto was not discovered (by astronomers not astrology) for another nine years. It took a little while to be accepted by astrologers. Attributes had to be made up for that planet.

The number 12 is vital because it is very easy to divide. The four "elements" are alternated evenly. So do the Cardinal, Fixed, and Mutable modes alternate. Imagine if there was more or less signs. Can't have back to back fire or Cardinal signs in the system.

13 is a prime number so that would mess a lot of things up. If there were only 11 signs it would be no good as well. It's a lot easier to add a planet than a constellation. Also once added, none are removed.

Changes in astrology occur only when there is an advantage.

There has been rumoured that there is a 13th star sign. I love being a Gemini. So what is the sign for Ophiuchus?
