Can a strong mercury overpower or make up for a weak mars?!

Question: I have mars in Pisces and mercury in Capricorn. Most of the sites I go to say that Cancer Pisces and Libra are weak signs for mars. But if your mercury is in a stronger position would it make up for the weakness in mars? What if your mars was in Cancer but your mercury was in Leo? Or if your mars was in Libra but your mercury was in Scorpio?

What a wonderful question; it is rare to find someone who can ask a focused question like this.

First, I would not worry about Mars being "weak" in Pisces; it really means that it is softer in Pisces, which is a good thing. Mars is a strong planet to start with, so softening or tempering it is a good thing.

Mercury in Capricorn gives a pragmatic focus to your intellect.

It is not so much having the planets "placed weakly" as much as it is the aspects between the planets and their placement in the houses of the chart. All of those things work to push and pull each other into shape.

For you, I can't say this is a strong aspect or not because I don't know the degrees of Pisces and Capricorn Mars and Mercury are in, but for the sake of information, we can estimate a hypothetical sextile aspect between the two. A sextile aspect is a good one and it then takes the action and strength of Mars and applies it toward Mercury (the mind and communication). The action of Mars is in a more philosophical sign, so it actually softens some of the pragmatism that Mercury gains from being in Capricorn. Also we can consider that Mars working on Mercury adds action to your intellect, which, besides being pragmatic, is also one that strives for success.

All of this depends on the closeness of the aspect, if there is one, depending on the degrees in the signs involved, and then their energies are focused by their placement in the houses.

Gosh, I know I had seen a few sites say that, but is it really that bad, lol? That sucks. I have mars in 28.5 degrees Libra.

Yes a strong Mercury can over rule.
Mars in Libra is not in its favorite sign and has nothing to do with the intellect. It reacts more on a social level and brings aggresivity in relationship or social contacts; love of sex but many broken relationships.

In pisces, Mars joins its aggresivity with the unknown or secrets. If ften reflects a typeof work suck as policeman, prison keeper, or a social critic. etc...
Mars in the 12th sign cal also indicate a person working in an isolated area.

Mars in cancer is in a very bad position. This combines the warrior and the home. You can imgine with this placement, that conflicts at home, will be often and you will be a sort of dictator. The character is irritating and very fussy, and you can expect stomach disorders later on in life.

Mercury and Gemini ALWAYS rules the mind and their placement will reflect how and where the influence is most used. The aspect by the other planets will combine their traits with Mercury... Ex Saturn adds concentration, Uranus, adds quickness, Neptune adds inspiration etc..etc...

Mars is never weak in any sign. He shows you where this energy will be used (by house placement) and the sign it is in will show how it will be used. The aspect gives the quality of this energy.
Good luck !!!

I dont think it matters where it is as much as it matters what it is. Mars is the god of war and extreamly strong. Mercury is the messanger and nothing to do with strength.
