Do you suppose astrology can actually affect your love life? Looking more opinio!
Question: I'm just curious. Being born on May 4th, that makes me a Taurus, and from the time I was a preteen to maybe about the beginning of my freshman year in high school, I was really into the whole astrology thing and seeing which signs were compatible etc. As time went on though, I pretty much abandoned the whole concept of reading horoscopes, sign compatibility, unless it was just for fun. I know that there are people out there who believe that the star signs can determine ones personality, and their romantic fate, but I on the other hand just live life, and often feel like the odd one out (people here in Detroit, seem to be really into it AFAICT). My girlfriend is a Scorpio and many people have given us a hard time about our 'opposite signs'. Seeing as how we get along great, have lots in common and really care for one another and enjoy each others company etc. I say, who cares if our signs our opposite? Aren't the above listed aspects what make a relationship? What is YOUR opinion?

I think you live what you believe. So if you believe in horoscopes your life will be ruled by it and you will begin to see patterns in your life that will validate your beliefs. However, horoscopes are mostly for entertainment as one would need info on not just one's sun sign, but their rising sign & moon at the very least. I'm a reader with many, many friends who are good astrologers and I still don't believe most of what I'm told nor has any of it come to fruition. For me if it doesn't resonant as truth - whether its what I want to hear or not, then I disregard it. As far as relationships and astrology goes I would tend to put more emphasis on karma and personal choice then any formulated astrological guideline.
I agree with you. Horoscopes should only be read for recreational purposes. People who really believe and swear by them just don't really have a clue.

Actually, i think Taurus and scorpio get along great because each one(in astrological theory) posses what the other doesnt and together they both complete each other. My last boyfriend was a Taurus and i'm a Scorpio...
BUT the sign of another person has nothing to do with it. I honestly think that when people read about the personiality of THEIR SIGN they adopt the traits of their sign into them. Some cases will be coincidental though.
Anywhoo...my and my ex weren't meant. He actually did not posses ANY traits of a Taurus at all. And do you know why? Becasue he wasnt into horoscopes. Therefore he never got a chance to adopt the traits into him.

I bet if you had both of your natal charts completed by an expert, they would match up pretty good. It's not just your sign that matters. It's a lot of other factors. Your rising signs may be compatible. I'm a Leo with a Leo rising sign which is different than a Leo with say a Scorpio rising sign. My opposite sign is Aquarius which means I have problems with that sign more than any other.

The people in this section can not make up their minds if astrology is for "fun" or to be taken seriously. There is no evidence that birth-date determines personality. Do people born in late June to early July mind being call two-faced? Because you are a Gemini you are most likely to be a liar so you can't be trusted?
Astrology can and has been tested. It fails to do better than chance. Don't let a ancient, made-up, bigoted, and unproven concept be used against you. Believe in free thinking. Believe that you can take control of your own life.

Hon, my opinion is that you are associating with some VERY inept astrologers. Scorpio and Taurus are an excellence match. (My Mom is Scorpio: my Dad was Taurus, and they had a 49-year marriage before his death ended it.)
Sun signs (as well as every other aspect of our horoscopes) DO help to determine our personalities, along with other obvious factors like genetics and upbringing. I've been a student of astrology for over forty years, and it's aided me immensely in my dealings with fellow human beings in order that it helps me to understand wht makes them "tick". (Newspaper horoscopes, on the other hand, are for entertainment purposes only.)
Now, as for you and your girl---you're both committed, passionate, loyal people. Earth and Water are GREAT together. The only problem the Taurus/Scorpio couple might experience is a bit of intractability on the part of both parties. If you can learn the art of compromise (and who shouldn't!) you could have a very happy and fulfilling relationship.

Edit: BTW I'm on my 27th year of marriage to a member of my "opposing" sign, Virgo. "Opposing" does not mean incompatibilty: it's just where your sign happens to fall on the wheel of the Zodiac charts.
I certainly have no problems with people who marry outside of their compatibilty ranges---people can marry whoever they wish! I simply choose to have relationships with people whom I'm compatible with. And astrologically speaking, it works for me.
And for those who think astrology is nonsense---why are you here in the first place?
Edit to Chainlightening: See my above remark. And no decent astrologer would assume that Geminis are all "liars", as you say; they are changeable, and always evolving. There's a huge difference between possessing those qualities and being a "liar".
Opposite in signs doesn't mean your opposite in personalities. It means that there are features about that sign that you lack and features about your sign that they lack. That's all. It doesn't mean either can't get along.
If you get along with her then that is your truth.
And don't base the truth on astrology. Rather base astrology on the truth.

I agree with chainlightning's answer 100% and I couldn't have said it better myself. In that example he used, I am the same example of Aries and Scorpio relationship. According to books, we should never be together, however we're lasting beautifully. It is something that should be used for entertainment but on a serious level, any 2 people can be with each other as long as they want to be with each other. If I want to be with my husband, regardless of what astrology says, I will be with him.
To tell the truth...I'm on here to find out about this site/section. I'm not sure how to get to it.At least I'll have your question on file. I stay mostly in the paranormal section. I pretty much agree with you.(at least one of me do!) I'm a Gemini. I don't think anybody gets along with us.We even get called MPDs. I used to wonder why in the world my life was like it was..then I read my horrorscope (the one that tells everything about you)...and sure 'nough..there I was!! It even told the things that were happening to me at that time. But I never ..or rarely ...read daily ones. I don't think they're accurate...but more for amusement. Maybe a really serious person could do an accurate one. IDK. I guess I ought to look and see who might enjoy being with me. My bd is May 28. Is there someone on here who could tell me. (Maybe the ones we get along with aren't the ones we're suppose to marry.) Maybe they're only supposed to be soul mates. Why ruin a good relationship with marriage??!! lol Come visit us!
