Question: shayesha is right on the fortune part. fortune is described as the supposed power thought of as bringing good or bad to people; luck; chance; what happens or is going to happen to one.
the part of fortune is considered a fortunate point in the birthchart, a point of harmony, success, and ease. it has been said that it "represents that place in the horoscope where, within oneself, the individual knows what she/he must not compromise her/his ideals." the house placement indicates the area in which we find fortune and success and the sign shows how the energy of the part can best manifest in our lives.
to calculate the part of fortune, use this guide:
ascendant's degrees + moon's degrees - sun's degrees
i will use my chart for example:
asc. at 8 deg, 08 min. in capricorn
moon at 20 deg, 37 min. in taurus
sun at 28 deg, 31 min. in gemini
IMPORTANT: in calculating the part of fortune, the signs are converted to the numerals of their natural order in the zodiac. so aries=1, taurus=2, gemini=3, cancer=4, etc., etc. so, using my info, here's how i'd figure of the PoF:

this equals: 9 00 14
so my part of fortune is at sagittarius(9th sign) at 00 deg., 14 min.

Your fortune is whatever is in your life that you derive a certain luck from, but your part of fortune is an "Arabic part" which tells you where you will derive this luck from.
