Mars Retrograde won't be that big an impact on an individual, unless he/she is an Aries/Scorpio Sun or has an Aries/Scorpio Ascendant (since Mars is the ruling planet of Aries and co-ruler of Scorpio). Or unless the individual has a Mars in retrograde in the natal chart.
Geminian influences are ruled by the planet Mercury, not Mars, so unless Mercury is in Retrograde motion, heavily Geminian influenced folks won't feel the effects as much.
