Actually, I do remember now that vedic astrol. is based not on sun signs, like western kind, but on moon signs........So, wait a minute, would this mean that the moon is NOT the emotions in vedic astrol. and the sun is NOT the ego ?? In another answer, you mentioned the moon means the mind in vedic astrol. It would be cool if you could elaborate on that just a little bit.

I am not at all convinced after re4ading Ricky's version.I don't like to enter into a debate which is never ending . I just want to say that evdic astrology takes moon>sun>stars>all planets+position of each at the time birth in the Birth chart and Navamsha(which I can't find any english word to explain )>the degree of each planet in each hose to know the strength of each for good or bad position as shown in charts.Taking all these into account , in vedic astrology we can judge the traits, future of the "subject" in general .Then comes the next step to find out periodic changes that will occur in life ........different Dashas(I find no english word to describe this) and antardashas to foretell almost precisely which good or bad events will occur in life at what time/age/year&month.
A simple date of birth of a person doesn't help a vedic astrologer in studying all the details.....except a "gross one".
I know what the western astrology says about this.Also , I know what is said about this in numerology.Basically whatever is explained in western form of astrology goes very close to vedic assessment based on "lagna"(no english word for this ).
16 is 7 . It's negative moon. the person has a tehdency to build castles in the air.He/she is "day dreamer"......usually fails to put in action what he dreams of.He is determination is not strong.But then, he as born in June, when Sun was quite strong (not in syrongest position).Therefore, he is an idealist in many ways.He is an egoist( just as we all are ........but, he is a bit more than the rest).He is clean at heart .....hardly tells anything just for nothing.If you are a person , born on any of these dates of any month ......such as , 1 , 2 , 4, 7, ....you have great chance of having a harmonic relationship.I presume that you understand what 1, 2, 4, 7 numbers mean.
Example:1 means>>>>1,10,19,28
2 means>>>>2,11,20,29 and the rest goes like this.OK?
