Water signs are prone to deep emotional problems, which in turn often manifests as substance abuse.

Yes, especially if you have Pisces in your chart...I once knew someone who was a Pisces and she had a really bad drinking problem and began to to take drugs. And also if their moon sign is water, then I'd say most definitely.

mostly i think its emotions thats too much for them too handle and they need to lay off from all the emotion and confusion every once in a while

As for drinking, Sagittarius rising or a strong Sagittarius afflicted tends to gambling and drinking.
Pisces is probably the worse sign for drugs and alcohol. Negative aspect from Moon will increase the risk. Neptune in 6th house will tend to alcohol and drugs.
Scorpio tendency is more toward smoking weed rather than drugs and this because of its 2nd decanate co-ruled by Neptune (drugs) and 3rd decanate (Moon).
Cancer doesn't tend towards drugs and alcohol.
N.B. Having said this, a positive Pisces well aspected will NEVER RESORT TO DRUGS OR ALCOHOL. This includes the position of neptune, well-paced and well aspected.

I am a cancer with pisces moon, and I really hate alcohol, even the smell of alcohol makes me wanna puke. It is just gross.....everytime I had alcohol , rash develop all around my neck and wrists. I also hate smoking . I do gamble but not much, maybe once or twice a year do I go to the casino.
Firstly, I'm a pisces and I have not had that problem nor do I expect to, but my friend, also a pisces, does have a cigarette addiction and drugs would not surprise me. I don't think it has anything to do with signs though because other than the fact that people obviously make a living psyching people out with horoscopes and false predictions I can't find anything important about my sign, other than the fact that I was born during that sign
