Scorpios are cool people, I have two best Scorpio friends, they are really great and I am a Taurus.
What makes the Scorpio cool is their intelligence, the loyalty and the great ability to really keep a secret, the witty games they play, they are cool in being always in control of everything and cool in always knowing the right answer about any issue. They are cool in the way they provoke you when making a joke and they are cool in asking you a question which they perfectly know how would you answer. They are also wise, honest and giving very good advices, they have refined sense of humor.
Negative sides well no one is perfect, I have also negative sides, I am stubborn, inflexible, i am easily hurt and I am very spontaneous so I do not want to judge the Scorpios for their negative sides, I will just list some because of your question. I think the side in the Scorpios that really makes me sometimes moody is their trait to make harsh comments and sometimes being so straightforward and even do not notice when they said something that might really hurt. They become aloof sometimes for no reason and need some time to deal with their personal matters. A side I would not experience becsuse I would always admit my mistakes but I had seen this side in them is the revengeful nature of the Scorpio, once crossed they would revenge for it, they would not let anyone to mess with them just like that and they would sting again and again till they make sure they punished the bad person and make them feel as bad as the Scorpio felt.
What I am worried sometimes is that I really question myself do they really care but later on I discover they do judging from their actions.
Scorpios are also great in patching, because they are very deep emotionally and very intuitive people. When they hurt someone they really do not intend to and they realize that person respects and loves them but they said something harsh or being too direct they are experts in making you laugh in order to forget. They are cool here because they would not come and say sorry, but they would come and would find something you really did well or something you are really good at and they would pay you honest compliment, they would make a nice joke afterwords so you would forgive them and never remember it and you would be glad to have this friends around you. But after they make sure the hurt person is feling alright they might say something harsh again the next time and would be nice again afterwards again.
I am thankful for knowing my Scorpio friends, I respect them for the people they are.

The good part if you are their friend they will help you. The bad self center, liars, fake, can't keep secerts. moody, have to be in controll, some are not reliable,
It is funny you say "cool" person. I recently did some work on detaching from my emotions and people think I am pretty "cold" now. Whats neat about Scorpio is that we can swing from being ice cold to red hot. Water signs will always have a tendecy to be "cool" though.
Im a scorpio and the one thing that sticks out the most that I like is my passionate and loyal side. The one bad thing I don't like is that I am very jealous even when there isn't a reason to be.

Scorpios in a nut shell are a very creative person. They find enjoyment out of doing artistic things such as painting, drawing, writing, etc. Scorpios are also very secretive and mysterious. They don't always tell you whats on their mind and like to leave the other person guessing. Scorpios are also very dedicated to their friends and loved ones. Rather then having a dozen friends they will only have a few close friends who are true. They are very protective and if double crossed can be very vengeful.
