This is just my experience but I am a Moon Maiden (Cancer) and my husband is a scorpio. and it seems we have always been together and were instantly comfortable around each other. We have been together off and on for twelve years (We just married the 12th of Jan). There are times that we fight horribly, but in the end we always make up. The problem is when a cancer is mad, we tend to be quiet and to sulk and pout. Causing us to turn inward, and then later (sometimes days later) we lash out with what made us mad to begin with and poor scorpio is broad sided with this mad cancer. Chances are Scorpio doesn't even remember what they said or did to set us off. It isn't always Cancer's fault however. Scorpio goes out of their way to iritate people. They love to see the reaction it causes and watch how the events unfold.
It is my opinion that Cancer and Scorpio are good for each other, Cancers are very giving and loyal. Scorpios are very good at taking, but they make you feel appreciated.
Sexually Cancer and Scorpio always heat things up in the bedroom. Cancers are more than willing to meet each and every one of Scorpio's lustful demands.

I think you should subtract the gestation period and look at that. Who cares when you popped out. It is the hard driving lust under which you were created that counts.

My mother has always dated Cancers,she is a Scorpio,typical Scorpio , I swear.They get along , but it;s never easy, the attraction definetely is there but they get often into fights if none of them can just let go sometimes,you know just nod and agree,and the fights can get pretty serious, but nevertheless,there IS something there because the attraction towards eachother is insane. I say it could work but only if both learn to live and let live one another.
my boyfriend is a cancer <3, we came together perrrfectly, we barely if ever have to communicate our needs, our personalities are tailor made for one another... we've been dating 2 months though, but it's great. When Cancer and Scorpio make a good match, they tend to stay together for a long time.
