Why has my star sign changed? I've always been Gemini but apparently not any!
Question: I was born on June 20 (please remember my birthday next year!). For years I've considered myself a Gemini but in the Sunday Times Style magazine I'm a Cancer. I wrote to them and they said it was because it depends when the sun departs Gemini which this year is on 20th June so therefore I'm Cancer.
However, everywhere else I look I'm a Gemini and in some places even 21 June is a Gemini.
Anyone any ideas? I want to know what I am - I don't want to be Cancer.

Get your birthchart done and you'll know for sure. The date that each sign starts or ends can vary from year to year, so Cancer may start on the 22nd in one year, but start on the 21st the next, just depends when the sun moves into that sign. So, depending on which year you were born in, you could be either. Go to astro.com, click on free horoscopes, and then click on (I can't remember exactly what it's called) either birth chart drawing or natal chart drawing, ascendant....something like that. Anyhow, it's underneath the extended chart selection, whatever it's called. Click on that, then enter your birth data, and it'll show you exactly where all of the planets were when you were born, so you'll know for certain which sun sign you are.
you were born "On The Cusp" of both so read both....i'm the same born on 20 dec but some mags & papers say im a capricorn but im a sagittarius but i still read both
yes because u are a cusp or something...it's when u are on the border of the two...according to the moon u are one and to the sun u are the other one...i'm between sagittarius and Scorpio.
June 20 is Gemini, cancer starts in June 21, Unless if you were born late at night, well to know compare your personality with the personality of Gemini and cancers, and see which of them you look more like...
I have two cousins, and they're brothers (Not twins they've been born in different years) well they were born in Apr 20 (and its the last day of Aries) well one of them is totally Aries and he have nothing from Taurus, and the other one was born at 11 pm he's very Taurus and he's 0% Aries.
Does it really matter? You could read anyone of the signs and it could apply to you or anyone!

Oh girl, dont worry. I would want to be a cancer if i were you. I love cancers. Derek Jeter is a cancer, and that sign just makes me think. My grandmother is a gemini and she can be a biatch sometimes. Trust me, you would rater be cancer. I have encountered so many cancers in my life. I am the Leo---PROUD OF IT. I think you should pick up the book "Sun Signs" by Linda Goodman. She is a very good writer and you will understand you are a cancer. June means cancer so thats what you are and you have to except it. Im really interested in this kind of stuff. You were a cancer your whole life. Read up on it. I find it a really mysterious sign. We are in a Leap Year, which puts a different wrinkle in the space/time continuum. If your birth moon was in Saturn, and you draw the Devil tarot card, then you are indeed a Cancer.
But if the Sun is aligned with Uranus, you'll just get sunburn on your butt.
It's nothing at all to do with when the sun moves into cancer this year. It depends on the year you were born. I can't tell you because I don't know what year you were born. There are slight variances from year to year. If you post the question again, I will find out for you.
Hey dhatheidi, I have the same b-day. I agree, you are on the cusp and while you are technically a Gemini, you will have some qualities of a Cancer. What's wrong with being Cancer, aside from the association with an illness. Cancers are usually pretty cool people.
You can be anything you want to be because i said so!! So if you want to be a Gemini then you stay that way!!! LOLOL!! Take no notice of what the Sunday times say because just about everything they print is bull!!!!

its actually really complicated ..
This all really boils down to our concept of time and it being not entirely exact with the leap year as compensation. this year being a leap year more or less catches us up to the actual time.. and the zodiac most newspapers, magazines and websites use is fixed on actual time with it starting on the vernal equinox. though your newspaper is right and it does actually go based on when the sun leaves gemini, you are more or less tied to the actual placement at birth and not what it would be today.
with that said i would do a birth/natal chart on yourself since knowing what you are for sure is up in the air being so close to the cusp. you can do so at www.astro.com knowing your birth time, date and place. when you get all the information your sign would be the position the sun is in (which is sometimes represented as a circle with a dot in the middle).
to answer why some magazines do not do this while others do .. it depends on how much they know about astrology or even how they determined the dates. how things are done sometimes differs from astrologer to astrologer..

What's the attraction to such a sometimey sign as Gemini.....Gemini's are so flip floppy, they can't get their sign right half of the time.
your a cusp you have two signs, lucky you, one day be gemini yak alot, next day be cancer moody and crabby, dont worry about it.
