I have an advanced astrology question regarding houses and rulerships?!

Question: Alright, I'm not quite sure how to word this effectivley, but I'll try.

You know, how in Astrology, to find a way a planet's energy is directed, you look at the sign the house is in, then look at that sign's ruling planet to see where it's placed and in what sign?

For example, if I wanted to know more about my 8th house, I'd look for Pluto (Since Scorpio is ruled by Pluto, and the 8th house is Scorpios house). My Pluto is right on my midheaven (10th house cusp) in Scorpio. But would I also look at Mars, since it is the old ruler of Scorpio? Or just Pluto?
-I don't want any answers regarding that particular placment, I just wanted to use it as an example. So the same goes for other planets/rulerships like Aquarius/Saturn, Pisces/Jupiter, etc.

I hope this makes sense, haha.

I think you've got it a bit backwards somehow. If you wanted to know more about your 8th house, you would look to the ruling planet of the sign that your 8th house cusp is in, that's right I think. But since your MC is in Scorpio then your 8th house cusp is probably in Virgo, which means that you'd look to your Mercury placement, not your Pluto placement, since Scorpio rules the 10th in your chart, not the 8th. You could look to your Mars placement to further explore your 10th house, I suppose.

That's how I would look at it, anyhow. I could be wrong, though.

EDIT: I don't pay attention to the old rulerships either, Isa. Seems to me that once the new planets were discovered and named rulers of the signs involved, the old rulers of those signs became obsolete. Just my opinion, seems like common sense to me. I thought that in this instance, though, the mars placement might add a bit of extra insight, since Pluto is in the house Scorpio rules.

Again, I could be completely wrong.

So how'd you enjoy that storm on Friday, anyhow?? I got to stay home :-D Hope you stayed out of that mess, too.

Aries - Planetary Ruler Mars
Taurus - Planetary Ruler Venus
Gemini - Planetary Ruler Mercury
Cancer - Planetary Ruler Moon
Leo - Planetary Ruler Sun
Virgo - Planetary Ruler Mercury
Libra - Planetary Ruler Venus
Scorpio - Planetary Ruler Pluto, (Mars)
Sagittarius - Planetary Ruler Jupiter
Capricorn - Planetary Ruler Saturn
Aquarius - Planetary Ruler Uranus, (Saturn)
Pisces - Planetary Ruler Neptune

(classical rulers)
Modern rulerships for example: Mars rules Aries (day) and Scorpio (night)

Hello...I will try to explain how I view it.
Houses are tricky. It is a question of input/output or nature versus nurture.
It would be all dandy and fine if everything worked like "rules" in books. Reality does not always follow rules.
A house can be overwhelming at times for certain sign placements (too much demand from the environment) and one would rather "escape" that house's requirements or the planet/sign can express itself negatively. For ex : a sag Mars would not well be suited in the 4th house generally if other aspects pose contradictions.
I also look for the rule of 3 for strong influences in the chart. Look well enough and patterns emerge. Take that Mars for ex and look at the ascendant (mars ruler of 1st house) and jupiter (ruler of Sag) and proceed and maybe you will find Jupiter in Cancer (4th house).
And you have - back to the houses again - take into consideration that there can be a lot of diversity. Take your 8th house and people will tell you that it is about managing other people's money but it can also deal with matters of "life and death" : the occult etc..
Hope am making sense myself...

Edit : I do not pay attention to old rulerships..........maybe I should..

Re edit : LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! as clear as black snow here..
