It'd not the day of the month that matters, it the time of year that you both, and thats not the date of the year your born, I mean more like the seasons.
Your Sagittarius in the middle of the cycle so your not on the cusp.
The date subdivides the sign in 3 decanates. Each is ruled by the ruler of the same element of your sign.
Ex......Sagittarius, first 10 deg is ruled by Jupiter. The next 10 degrees is rules by Mars, and the last 10 degrees is rules by Sun.
Having said this, sagittarius is a mutable sign. There is the animal part, the sexual urge, and the archer which is philosophical. Jupiter brings expansion to the philosophical side of Sagittarius, rules the upper part. Sun will make it more this type more philosophical in his character, more apparent in the person's individuality and Mars, would give more impulse, more rashness and not as evolved philosophically , nor really interested. The lower nature, the sex urge would be more developed and this type would be more inclined to the lower evolved Sagittarius.
i think that the difference is that venus is in a different house - for example my birthday is on the 12th of february and my venus is in aries whihc make me more agressive and open. my friend is born on 28th jan and his venus is in (lets say pisces) which makes him mor of a dreamy aquarian that a fiesty one like me. your all still sag i guess but its just that the planets are in different positions and make slight differences to your charachter
try gettin a natal chart online and then maybe do a sag friend to see the contrast

the date changes the degrees the planet is in your sign, which shows how much of that sign you are in comparison to another degree. the smallest degrees are the strongest. so for example i have 3 degrees aquarius sun, and that means my aquarius sun is more dominant than someone with 12 degrees. i don't know if this is true though, i've read it a few times on the internet, so i don't know.
